Stock landscape and outdoor adventure photos from Oregon, Washington, and the Pacific Northwest

About the Pacific Crest Stock Photo Team

Pacific Crest Stock Photography is a Bend, Oregon-based stock photo company that specializes in carefully selected, exceptional quality landscape and nature images that celebrate Oregon’s wild and beautiful places.  We are currently comprised of two photographers, Mike Putnam and Troy McMullin, who both live in Bend, Oregon.  It is our intention to remain small as a stock photo company and to maintain very high standards of image quality.  We will continue to achieve high standards through utilizing excellent photography equipment, being very persistent in regards to shooting under optimal environmental conditions and being aggressive in our selection process.

As we share a strong passion for the environment and joy of exploration, we developed our photography skills through parallel paths.  A love of the diverse geographical and environmental areas that are accessible within a short drive of the Central Oregon Area have continued to fuel our love of landscape photography in Oregon.  Having the Central Oregon Cascade Mountains, the high deserts of Central and Eastern Oregon, the old growth rain forests to the west and amazing Rivers such as the Deschutes River, the Metolius river,  the Crooked river and the Santiam River all within a reasonable driving distance make being landscape photographers in this area of Oregon a perpetual adventure.  As we more completely photograph our area of Central Oregon, it is our intention to gradually spread our coverage north and south along the cascade crest.

Troy McMullin, a father of three beautiful children (Ella, Jacob, and Anna–he can never keep the order straight), is happily married to his wife, Julie.  Their frequent trips to the scenic Oregon Coast has allowed Troy the opportunity to capture numerous beautiful photos of one of the most spectacular areas on the Pacific Coast.  Please visit our Pacific Crest Coast Gallery to view Troy’s growing collection of pictures of the amazing Oregon Coast.  The Oregon coast is not Troy’s only area of photo interest.  He also has an intense joy of improbable exploration which requires exhausting off-trail journeys into uncharted areas of Oregon’s wilderness areas.  His intensive interest in skate skiing and road biking have helped Troy maintain the fitness level necessary for his photo explorations.  In addition to family, photography and fitness, Troy has a strong interest in music, specifically small undiscovered indie rock and Americana groups.

Mike Putnam’s interest in Pacific Crest Stock Photography was born through a different route of photo development.  Joy of hiking and mountaineering long ago led Mike to improve his photography skills in an attempt to capture the real beauty of of the special and wild places which rejuvenate him.  He wanted to capture beautiful images to share with friends and family and eventually wanted to create beautiful prints of the backcountry landscapes which he enjoys.  This started with point and shoot cameras and quickly led to 35 mm film cameras.  The small size of 35 mm negatives limited the enlargement potential of these images.  He began using a tripod for all of his photos, and then very slow speed and finely grained film.  Eventually, after realizing that a 35 mm camera format would always be to limiting in terms of its enlargement capacity he made a leap of faith and bought a large format 4×5 camera.  This is the camera which he uses for many of his stock images available at Pacific Crest Stock to this day.  His large format 4×5 camera allowed greater perspective control and a huge transparency size which allows for enlargement of his fine art prints up to 5 feet in size with exceptional detail.  Mike honed his skills with his large format camera until he was consistently capturing well composed and well focused images.  Upon the urging of Troy and some other friends, Mike submitted two of his early images to the now defunct Mirror Pond Gallery in downtown Bend Oregon.  His images were juried into the sales gallery there and his now thriving fine art photography business was born!  His fine art prints are now held in the collections of numerous private and corporate collectors.  Amongst his corporate collectors in Central Oregon are Banks of the Cascades, Brooks Resources, The Heart Center at St. Charles and the Bend Brewing Company.  For more information about Mike’s Fine Art Photography business, please visit Mike Putnam Photography.  Mike’s fine art photos are available for licensing exclusively through Pacific Crest Stock.
